Still i did’t received. I have my Original Passport with Immigration Status of Permanent Residence and Province Photo ID Documents. So please guide how i can get my SIN Number.

August 5, 2023 9:59 pmHi Avinash,
You need to submit a valid and original Primary identity document. You may find the list of acceptable documents on Canada.ca website. https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/services/sin/required-documents.html
Photocopies are not acceptable, it must be original. If you have missed any of the documents, you must replace it with the appropriate issuing agency or department.
Meanwhile, if you already have a SIN, you can just find it through T4, Notice of Assessment, etc.

August 30, 2023 5:50 pmHi
I applied for SIN on July 02, 2023 online and it has been almost 2 months but I have not received my SIN yet. Every time I follow up on my application over call or in person, I am asked to wait. Due to this issue I am facing financial difficulty also now as my employer cannot pay me without SIN. Please help what to do in this case?
SIN Advisory Team
September 1, 2023 3:39 pmHello Kawaljeet,
Generally speaking, you should not get any issue applying for SIN if your immigration document was able to validate against IRCC database during the SIN application process. Technically the employer can still pay your salary, just not able to issue your T4. You may visit your local Service Canada centre to find out if they can issue a letter for you to show proof to your employer that you are waiting for your SIN application.

September 8, 2023 10:00 pmI have applied for SIN number on August 2,2023 at Service Canada Centre and they didn’t issued me one by saying that a person with same name and date of birth as of mine still exist and they need to get it approved/checked by their higher authorities. I have asked whether our parents name is also same, so she said no parents name is different and issued acknowledgment letter to me, its been more than 20 business days still whenever i call to ask about my SIN status they only had one answer we are having high volume of applications ,we can’t give you any estimation how long it will take . I am having an virtual interview for amazon but they are not accepting acknowledgment slip and refusing to select me if i dont possess the SIN number till monday morning . What should i do ? I am suffering from unemployment because of their fault in processing application.

September 13, 2023 6:15 pmHello Jasmine,
First of all, do you already have a SIN? If so, you can just provide your SIN by showing documents such as old T4 or Notice of Assessment, etc.
If this is the first time you are applying and there is an urgency to receive your SIN, please bring your Primary Document(s) and Supporting Document(s) to your local MP’s office for assistance. They should be able to help you expedite your request.

September 29, 2023 2:42 pmhello,
I visited Service Canada on 11th September for my SIN, but I was told that they don’t have my information in the system and I was asked to fill out forms for my SIN application, all the information in my work permits is correct. I am left wondering what was the problem and why it is taking longer to process. Is there any office I can go to escalate the matter?
SIN Advisory Team
October 1, 2023 9:32 pmSometime it could be many different reasons. Most commonly is their SIN system is unable to match your information against IRCC’s system, that’s why they have to do a paper application. All Service Canada centres provides the same services, no centre is better then others.

Also they have all my required documents with them.i am new to canada and i am unemployed for about 2 months. What should i do now.
SIN Advisory Team
November 25, 2023 9:16 pmHello Anna,
As far as we know, not having a SIN should not prevent you from look for work because what employer should be looking for is your Canadian status (e.g. PR or Work Permit). If you are in a rush to obtain your SIN and have tried all the necessary way to communicate your urgency with Service Canada, you may want to visit your local MP’s office for assistance.

In this case, I would suggest you to visit your local Service Canada centre to renewal or apply your your SIN with your official immigration documents. January 8, 2024 10:39 amMy study permit has expired and the social insurance number with it, two months before I applied to renew my study permit and I got a confirmation to my GCKEY that they accepted my request but the study permit will arrive after six weeks of the confirmation, my question is can I renew my sin with the confirmation letter that I received to my GCKEY? or I wait for my study permit.
SIN Advisory Team
January 22, 2024 2:00 pmHello Moussa,
You will have to wait for your new study permit in order to renew your SIN expiry. Getting the GCKEY is only a way to let you submit your information online, but it is not a confirmation of your SIN renewal. For more detail, you may contact SIN office directly.

January 26, 2024 11:00 amI have applied online for SIN on Jan 14 but didn’t get any mail , it’s altogether 12 days
Can I work without SIN Number?
SIN Advisory Team
January 29, 2024 1:31 pmYou may technically start working while waiting for your SIN. Remember, it is your Work Permit that allows you to work. SIN is needed for your employer to file your social security contribution. You may contact SIN call centre to follow up with the status.
