The company/employer can confirm the SIN of a current or former employee by contacting Service Canada at 1-866-274-6627.

If calling from outside Canada, please call 506-548-7961 (long distance charges apply).

Employers will need to provide their business number issued by Canada Revenue Agency, along with necessary information to verify the identity of their company as well as the employee.

Service Canada Social Insurance Office will only be able to confirm with the employer if the SIN is valid. No personal information will be disclosed.
